As Liverpool miss out on the chance of signing Gareth Barry, Real Madrid are not giving up on Xabi Alonso. They have now announced a bid of £20 million, and will be trying to persuade Alonso that a move back to his native country would be good for him. Alonso’s last season was world class, and Liverpool will probably find it very hard to let him go.
Suprisingly Gareth Barry has signed a conract with Manchester City. Rafael Benitez has tried to sign the midfielder from Aston Villa for quite some time, but as it turns out he has now signed a five year contract with City and will definetly not be playing for the reds next year.
Showing great form early on, many of us were convinced this was the year the 19 year long wait for the Premiership would come to an end. As the season progressed The Reds kept grabbing impressive wins, and with Manchester United dropping important points, Liverpool seemed like a real favourite.
Fernando Torres has just signed a new improved one year extension to the contract with Liverpool, having him his stay with The Reds to 2014. His new contract, worth an incredible £110 000 a week will make him the club’s second most paid player, with just captain Steven Gerrard making more money.
